A LIFE THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE
"And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee,
saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting
a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And he saith unto
them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. And they
straightway left their nets, and followed him. And going on
from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee,
and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending
their nets; and he called them. And they immediately left the
ship and their father, and followed him " (Matt. 4:1822, emphasis added, JMS).
Why did the Apostles, Luke, Saul of Tarsus and others change careers?
Because they saw a need (souls were lost), they were convinced that
Jesus was the Christ, and they were challenged by the Lord and his
servants to meet the needs, even if a career change was demanded.
Do you see the need? Are you convinced that Jesus is the Christ?
Could you be encouraged to serve the Lord, even if career adjustments
were necessary?
You may have taken early retirement. What will you do with
the time and means that you now have?
You may have finished a tour of military service. What will
you do with your talents and time now?
Are you unsatisfied in your occupation? Does it bring you
the depth of satisfaction of body, soul and spirit that you long
for and know is possible.
Could YOU change occupations to serve the Lord full-time? Many
of us, including this writer, have made career changes.
If any of the things mentioned interest you, contact the Florida
School of Preaching, we will help you become an effective servant
of the Lord.
