About Us
Preachers are not born as preachers. They must be sought and taught. Help us find faithful men willing to “stand in the gap.” The Gospel is still God’s power to save the lost!
The purpose of the Florida School of Preaching is to train preachers and Bible class teachers for the churches of Christ. There are men who desire to preach but have had no opportunity of training. Some have acknowledged the preaching school arrangement is the only way they can receive the needed training. This school encourages individuals to pursue education to the highest extent possible.
The Florida School of Preaching began in September 1969 as a work of the South Florida Avenue church of Christ in Lakeland with support from other churches and individuals. The school continues to use spacious facilities provided by this church. In June 1972 the school was issued a charter from the State.
The Florida School of Preaching has a two-year course study of 120 semester hours. All of the courses offered are directly related to the work of a gospel preacher. Visit the Academics section of our website to get course details.
The school began hosting an annual lectureship in January 1975. Look for the schedule of speakers and topics on our Home page or Lectureship tab. Each year's lectureship book is available in a hardbound book or as a PDF. The audio and video recordings of lessons are also available.
The school is located in Lakeland, Florida, centrally between Tampa and Orlando. We would love for you to stop in to visit when you are in the area.
